Our stencils are most commonly used for stone monuments, but they work on more materials, and throughout more industries, than just that.

Monuments

The Monument Industry is where we started and where we were able to refine our blast abrasion masks. Whether single processing or double processing, we produce sandblast masks for any purpose to ensure a worry-free sandblasting process.

Sandblasting

Single Process Sandblasting

Single-Process Sandblasting is often used for shallow engravings, where the entire design is sandblasted all at once and painted. U-Blast single liner stencils excel at maintaining the necessary flexibility while having a strong rubber backing that can withstand high PSI blasting. U-Blast stencils have been used to create beautiful designs, from the columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery to small cemetery lettering projects.

Double Process Sandblasting

For intricate designs with more depth, detail, and sharp edges on lettering, a double process is used. U-Blast’s double liner stencil, featuring a yellow middle liner to hold the design in place, is perfect for this process. The rubber is designed to withstand multiple passes and high PSIs, while being easy to pick and weed.

Aerospace & Defense

Precision is crucial in aerospace and defense industries. Shot peening is used to strengthen and reduce deformations in high-value parts by blasting surfaces to reduce fatigue and prevent crack propagation, thus extending component life and enhancing durability.

Sandblasting

Paint Stripping and Removal

When refurbishing airplanes, the previous design needs to be removed. Paint stripping is achieved with sandblasting and rubber stencil is used to ensure only what needs to be removed is removed.

Rust and Corrosion Removal

Removing paint, corrosion, and contaminants from airplane parts like landing gear, engine components, and wings is crucial in MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations). Sandblasting is commonly used for this, with rubber stencils protecting sensitive areas due to their durability.

Shot Peening

Improving Resistance to Fatigue

Grinding, bending, and heat treatment in aerospace refurbishment increase tensile residual stress, reducing component lifespan. Shot peening converts this to compressive residual stress, enhancing part strength. Rubber stencils protect areas not needing this process.

Shot Blasting

Plastic Blat Media (PMB)

In specific cases, blast media is too abrasive and can damage components. Plastic blast media, a softer abrasive, is used for precision, coating removal, and deburring. Flexible PMB blast masks like the ST380 protect parts by adhering strongly and conforming to component shapes during blast abrasion.

Industrial Manufacturing

In industrial manufacturing, rubber stencils serve as a reliable solution for blast abrasion protection during surface preparation. UBlast stencils offer a cost-effective and reliable solution for consistent, professional results on various materials.

Shot Blasting

Rust and Coating Removal

Blast abrasion removes unwanted coatings like rust and lead from various surfaces, including ship hulls and arenas. Rubber masks protect areas that don't need blasting.

Surface Preparation

Blast abrasion in the automotive and rail industries removes contaminants for surface preparation before painting. Blast abrasion masks protect parts from overspray during these processes.

Paint Stripping and Removal

In the automotive and heavy equipment industries, paint stripping is crucial for refurbishment. During dry media blasting, a resilient rubber backing and strong adhesives are needed to keep the mask in place and withstand impact.

Oil and Gas

Maintenance of pipes is important in oil/gas transportation as pipes can get old and foreign aggregate can accumulate on the surface. It is important to keep the integrity of the pipes. The aggregates can form in unusual shapes, making the rubber stencil key for protecting the good parts as they blast off any parts that could potentially compromise the pipe.

Shot Blasting

Rust Removal

Removing rust and contaminants is essential for pipelines and tanks. Surface preparation with blast abrasion or sandblasting is necessary before applying new protective coatings. Rubber blast masks protect areas that don’t need blasting.

Chemical Tank Surface Preparation

Chemical and fuel storage tanks typically last 15-20 years but suffer from corrosion due to water and salts. To ensure longevity, tanks need internal coatings, which require clean substrates. Blast abrasion removes contaminants for proper coating adhesion, while rubber stencils protect sensitive parts from high PSI shot blasting.

Signage & Promotion

UBlast stencils are invaluable in the advertising and marketing industries. They provide intricate and personalized designs on signage, promotional merchandise, and billboards, offering a cost-effective solution that ensures accuracy and longevity. Ublast stencils also offer a cost efficient replacement to PVC, which works better without having to spend exorbitantly more for rubber.

Shot Blasting

Glass engraving

For deep designs or a frosted appearance on glass, sandblasting is used. To ensure intricate designs are accurate, rubber stencils protect areas that don't need blasting.

Surface Preparation

Shot blasting is frequently employed for creating engravings in various materials, ranging from etching designs on insulated mugs to industrial sign production. It is the optimal method for achieving deep and intricate designs. While vinyl masks are commonly used due to their affordability, there is a risk that they may not withstand higher blasting PSIs. Flexible rubber masks offer a reliable alternative at a comparable cost, eliminating these concerns.
